You are passionate about the aging profession which is why you are a GSA member. Share this passion with your colleagues and encourage them to join GSA! Recruiting a new member helps grow GSA’s rich and diverse network of researchers, practitioners, educators, and other professionals. Connect your colleagues to GSA’s strong network of professionals and be rewarded for your efforts.

Between April 11 – May 6, 2022, GSA is running a special member referral program.

For every new member you refer…

  • You will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 Visa Gift Card. You will receive one entry for each new member you refer.
  • The new member will be entered to win a free registration to the GSA 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting (up to a $640 value)

Referring a member is easy to do

  • E-mail a colleague with the sample email below and include a link to GSA’s member benefits. Be sure to direct your referral to provide your name when they apply for membership online.

Sample email:

Dear (Name),

As one of my professional colleagues, I want to share with you some information on membership at The Gerontological Society of America (GSA). I have been a member for several years and am grateful for all that I’ve gained from it.

GSA keeps me informed of all the latest research, trends, and more. As an interdisciplinary Society, it brings together professionals from all walks of life, and we collaborate and share information to advance the field in so many ways.

Please take the time to explore the many benefits GSA has to offer for professionals in the field of aging. You can visit their website to learn more. Now is a great time to join because GSA is running a special promotion. If you join by May 6, GSA will enter your name into a drawing to win a free registration to the GSA 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting (up to a $640 value). In order to be entered into the drawing, you must enter my name in the “referred by” section of the application. I hope that your membership proves to be as valuable in your career as it has been in mine.

Promotion Rules:

  1. Referrals must be Regular, Student, or Retired (i.e., no Emeritus, Spouse/Partner).
  2. New member cannot have been a member of GSA during 2021 to qualify for a new member referral.
  3. New member must list referring member’s full name in referral field of the membership application.
  4. Referring member will be entered to win a $500 Visa gift card. Your name will be entered into the drawing for each member you refer. There is no limit to how many members you can refer. There will be two winners who will each be awarded with a $500 Visa gift card.
  5. New Members will be entered to win free registration to the GSA 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting. There will be two winners who will each be given free regular registration to the in-person GSA 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting. This excludes the pre-conference workshops.
  6. The winners will be determined and should receive information about their prizes within 3 weeks of the promotion end.
  7. The new member must enter the referring member name in the “Referred by” line on the membership application.

Your Vote, Your Society!

GSA is a member-based organization, and its elected leaders, selected by you, help shape the future of the Society. Voting is a member benefit and an important duty of all GSA members.
